Hello, I am Stephanie, The Cake Lady.
I live and work in the Charente region of South West France.
Having been an enthusiastic cook from childhood, I began my career proper in 1992, with a café-restaurant, producing vegetarian meals and a large range of cakes.
From this I developed a catering business, also going on to sell French style patisserie from a vintage French van at Farmers’ markets in Kent and Sussex and supplying cakes to local cafés.
My other passion has always been art so it seemed a natural progression to combine the two and start producing celebration cakes, which I was being asked for more and more. I also developed special recipes so that I could offer delicious gluten free, dairy free and even vegan cakes whenever they were requested.
Eventually, wedding and celebration cakes took over. I was approached by a local hotel to be their exclusive supplier and, in 2011, I was delighted to be able to make the cake for the wedding of Sir Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell, having previously made cakes for many of their family celebrations.
